Association of British Naive Artists
Inspired in 2002 by the late Peter Denham, the organisation's original raison d'être was to promote naive art and its less familiar practitioners. Denham's visions included establishing a museum dedicated to British Naive Art in the United Kingdom, somewhere within the British Isles. Such a museum has yet to reach fruition, but with a growing membership of more than forty artists, it remains a fervent hope. The inaugural exhibition of Association of British Naive Artists was held at the Mariners Gallery in the home of the prestigious St. Ives Society of Artists in Cornwall. Other equally important locations have included the Crypt Gallery, London, Gloss Art Gallery, Exeter and Delamore House, Ivybridge. Current members include Noel Barker, Alan Furneaux, Dora Holzhandler, Judy Joel (who acts as the organisation's Director), Lewis Mitchell and Sandy Wager.
