CUMMING Diana 1929-2024
Painter born in Hereford, the daughter of a doctor she studied at the Slade School of Art, 1950-54 winning a travelling scholarship to Paris in her final year. During the period 1954-56 she won the coveted Rome Scholarship spending her time in Italy. Her first solo show was in 1964 at the Beaux Arts Gallery, London and in 1987 she was given an ACGB sponsored retrospective exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery, London.
Cumming took part in many group exhibitions, including Young Contemporaries, 1952, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, 1957–63; LG, 1958–59, Cooling Gallery and RA Slade centenary exhibition, 1971. Examples of her work are in the collections of the UCL Art Museum, Contemporary Art Society, ACGB, Hereford Art Gallery, Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Collection, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and Cheltenham Museum and Art Gallery.
