Arnolfini

Arnolfini is without doubt the city of Bristol’s most high-profile contemporary art centre. Established in 1961 by Jeremy and Annabel Rees, it was initially based above a bookshop on the Triangle in Bristol. Following a short relocation to Queen’s Square, the organisation moved to its current premises, a former tea warehouse, in 1975. This proved a catalyst in attracting other businesses to the then run-down dockside area of the city. Within a few short years the once dilapidated waterfront became the focal point for Bristol's social, artistic and cultural life. A huge range of artists and performers have exhibited at Arnolfini. These include, Bridget Riley, William Crozier, Bruce McLean, Mona Hatoum, Graham Ovenden, Paul Feiler, Barry Flanagan and many more.
