Beaux Arts Bath
The original Beaux Arts Gallery ceased trading on the death of Helen Lessore in 1965. The name was rekindled in 1971 when Reg and Patricia Singh opened their first gallery in St. Ives, Cornwall and represented work by artists of the St. Ives School, before opening Beaux Arts Bath in 1979. Some of these earlier artists' work now form the core of the gallery's substantial inventory of Modern British art. Beaux Arts also represents the estates of Terry Frost, Elisabeth Frink and Lynn Chadwick. Technically speaking the later Beaux Arts is not related to the Lessore gallery but similarly they not only exhibit the work of major British 20th century artists but also actively promote the up and coming artists. Beaux Arts is the longest established commercial gallery in Bath and is the sister gallery to Beaux Arts London located in Cork Street, exhibiting many of the same artists. The gallery specialises not only in paintings but in sculpture and ceramics. The gallery stages eight annual exhibitions, half of which are dedicated to promoting new young talent.
