Chappel Galleries

Edna Battye as she then was, opened Chappel Galleries on 16th May 1986. A later meeting with artist Władysław Mirecki made the gallery one of the few establishments to claim a working artist as one of the proprietors. Based in Chappel, Essex, it nestles in the beautiful Colne Valley backing onto the River Colne overlooking the Romanesque thirty-two arch working railway of Chappel Viaduct. The gallery promotes and sells works by artists from the 20th & 21st century, many of whom have a national following and also regional connections.

They include Roderic Barrett, Richard Bawden, Michael Chase, Colin Hayes, Olwen Jones, Sargy Mann, Tessa Newcomb, Valerie Thornton and Harold Yates, to name but a few.
