New Grafton Gallery

Founded in 1968, the gallery is located at 49 Church Road, Barnes, London and its founder was David Wolfers (1917-2001), a leading light in London's private gallery community who vigorously promoted modern British figurative art from the outset of his career as an art dealer in 1968. From its beginnings in London's Mayfair, the New Grafton Gallery actively promoted a cross-section of British talent, which included the established names of Elisabeth Frink, Carel Weight, Mary Fedden, Ruskin Spear, Tom Coates, Peter Greenham, Keith Vaughan, Carel Weight and John Nash. Its stable of contemporary emerging artists includes Richard Pikesley, Sarah Spencer, Julian Bailey and Ruth Stage. Moving to Barnes in the south-west of London in the early 1980's, the gallery has become a mecca for collectors and artists alike. David Wolfers remained at the helm until his demise in 2001. Since then the gallery has been run by David's daughter, Claudia Wolfers.
