Oldham Art Gallery
Gallery Oldham as it has recently been termed has been collecting artworks and objects since 1883 and by the millennium the collection housed more than 2,000 works of art.
The newly constructed Gallery was completed in its original form early in 2002 and was extended following a £13 million revamped was officially opened April 2006. The building includes state of the art library and learning facilities. Exhibits have included works ranging from Pablo Picasso and L.S. Lowry. The gallery holds a vast collection of works by local born artist Helen Bradley. Local artist Leghe Suthers has also recently been added and other artists in the growing collection include James Fitton, Laura Ford, Terry Frost, Philip Connard, Patrick Heron, H H La Thangue, Alice Maher, Peter Phillips, Dod Procter, Stanley Royle, Algernon Talmage and sculpture by Fred McWilliam and Josefina Vasconcellos.
