Woodlands Art Gallery
The Blackheath based gallery was housed in a Georgian villa dating from 1772 which was the former home of John Julius Angerstein (1735-1823) who was a collector of fine arts and whose paintings formed the basis of the collection for the National Gallery. It was acquired by the London Borough of Greenwich in 1967 and was opened as a gallery for the exhibition of contemporary art in 1972. It remained so until 2003 when it finally closed its door as an exhibition space.
Artists who showed there include Jean Cooke, George Gault, Bernard Adeney, Fyffe Christie and John Christopherson.
