Beano

A British comic magazine created in July 1938 by Scottish publishing house D.C. Thomson and its 4000th edition was published in August 2019. Since its creation The Beano has sold more than 2 billion copies making it the world's second best-selling comic outside Japan.

Characters in the magazine include, past and present Dennis the Menace, Minnie the Minx, The Bash Street Kids, Roger the Dodger, Lord Snooty and His Pals, Ivy the Terrible and Biffo the Bear. A plethora of comic strip artists have illustrated for the comic including Harry Hargreaves, Barry Appleby, Reg Carter, Leo Baxendale and many others.
