Graphis
The magazine is nowadays referred to as The International Journal of Visual Communication, It first saw the light of day in 1944 when Walter Herdeg and Walter Amstutz published it in Zurich, Switzerland. It was published every two months and it aimed to showcase the work of fine artists and illustrators and to expound the best in graphic design at the time of publication over more than 60 years.
Advertising and photography were also featured showing the best available at the time. In 1964 after two decades of unison, Herdeg and Amstutz parted company with the latter becoming the sole proprietor of the magazine. Graphis Photo Annuals, followed in 1973 by the Graphis Poster Annual shortly afterwards. In the early 1990's the magazine headquarters were relocated to New York under new management. It appears to have ceased publication in 2005.
