University of The Arts
Commonly referred to as UAL it was formed by the amalgamation of several art teaching establishments, some of which have existed for over a century. These include Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts, Central Saint Martins, Chelsea School of Art, London College of Communication, London College of Fashion, London College of Printing, Wimbledon School of Art and the UAL Creative Computing Institute. It boasts an international reputation in art, design, communication, fashion, media and performing arts and is consistently rated in the top 5 Universities of its kind in the world. UAL is home to a diverse body of 18,000 students from 130 countries.
The University of The Arts London was established as The London Institute in 1986, became a university in 2003, and took its present name in 2004. The university hosts one of the largest international student bodies out of all universities in the United Kingdom. it should not be confused with an identically named establishment based in Philadelphia, USA which closed in 2024.
