Ipswich Art Club

Originally called the Ipswich Fine Art Club founded in 1873, its name was changed the following year. Its aim was to encourage a love of art and an interest in its study and practice. Its annual exhibition, held in the summer, is open to non-members. In addition to active membership, the club also has an associated group of Friends. Many of the great names of Suffolk painting were included among the members of the club and a number were elected to its committee. These included F. G. Cotman, D.Tollemache, E. R. Smythe, John Duvall, W. R. Symonds, Harry Becker, Anna Airy, Colin Moss, Edward Seago sculptor Bernard Reynolds and Alfred Munnings.
