Reading Guild of Artists

The Guild was formed in March 1930 following a circularised letter to local artists. The instigators and founder members were artist Allen Seaby, Professor of Fine Art at the University of Reading and William Smallcombe, Curator of Reading Museum and Art Gallery. Although a mere seventeen people attended the meeting more than 85 years later the Guild is still thriving with an active membership of more than 150 members. The Guild holds annual exhibitions in the spring and summer at venues including Reading University and the Reading Museum.
