Welsh Arts Council

Now officially known as the Arts Council of Wales this body is responsible for the funding and developing of the arts in Wales. Managed by an unpaid Council it was set up by Royal Charter in 1994. The large collection of the Council is spread across museums and art galleries largely in the Principality but also in places like the Birmingham Art Gallery and Leicester City Gallery. Works are again largely by Welsh artists but also by artists who lived and contributed to the cultural life of the Welsh people, but were not necessarily Welsh by birth. Such artists include Evan Charlton, Felicity Charlton, Ceri Richards, Thomas Rathmell, Donald McIntyre, Alfred Janes and Tom Cross amongst many.
