Dandy
This comic came from the same stable as The Beano and was published by the Dundee-based publisher DC Thomson. It was slightly older than the Beano, its first edition was published in December 1937, making it the world's third longest-running comic. Its heyday was in the 1950's when sales topped 2 million a week. Dwindling sales forced a rebrand in August 2007 and the Dandy Xtreme ran until October 2010. This was also short-lived and the final hard copy was published on December 4 2012. Thomson attempted a digital version but this ceased after a few months. All that now exists in the yearly Summer Special and the Dandy Annual. Artists who drew for the Dandy include Harry Hargreaves, Barry Appleby, Dudley Watkins and James Crighton.
