United Society of Artists
Founded in 1921 as the New Society of Artists,it was based in Carlton Terrace, London, holding its annual exhibition at the nearby Mall Galleries in July. It was originally established as an art organisation aimed at allowing artists living outside London to exhibit in central London. This has obviously changed over the years, and artists from across the UK are welcome. In addition, work of a professional quality in all media is exhibited under its auspices at other galleries in London and throughout Britain, with many of these exhibitions being open to non-members. Election to the Society is based on the production of a satisfactory portfolio of work. A newsletter, "News and Views" is circulated to members several times a year.
